Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in 2025 remains a strategic focus across the PR industry, though its execution varies by region. Let’s focus on the UK and Middle East regions.

UK PR: Talk Less, Act More on Diversity

UK PR firms are under growing pressure to move beyond surface-level statements. Embedding a diverse range of people will uplift client as perception is everything. Not having diverse staff members can make or break a campaign and a brand’s reputation.

Audiences and employees alike expect measurable action, whether through diverse leadership, inclusive campaigns, or transparent reporting. Industry bodies are trying to push for greater accountability, but more can be done to improve this.

The Rise of Diversity in the Middle East

In the Middle East, DEI is gaining ground, shaped by cultural sensitivities and national policies like the UAE’s ‘National Policy for Empowerment of Emirati Women.’

Agencies are focusing on gender diversity and local representation, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Bilingual campaigns are becoming more common and culturally tailored storytelling are key to resonating with diverse audiences and driving impact.

Across both regions, the message is clear: tokenism is out and should be. Brands that embed DEI authentically, through hiring, messaging, and partnerships are building trust and global relevance in an increasingly values-driven marketplace.
